The Manual Skid Plate Screen Changer provides plastics processors with an economical and efficient way to filter contaminants from the polymer stream. Used for blown film, laminating, masterbatch, recycling, sheet extrusion, profile extrusion, pipe production, pipe coating and biaxial orientation, the manual screen changer can be used to filter virtually any type of thermoplastic material. Compact design eliminates the need to disassemble the line and use the handle or optional ratchet manual indexing slide to change screens. At the heart of the Manual Screen Changer is a pressure activated sealing system. During screen changes while the line is stationary, the slide slides between the slack seals. Once the new screen is indexed and the line is restarted, the sealing system activates, pressing the seals firmly against the skids for reliable, leak-free performance. The manual screen changer has the advantages of small size and low cost, but its shortcomings are also obvious: the screen changing speed is slow, usually requires stopping to change the screen, and its screen diameter is generally below 100mm due to frictional resistance and sealing performance considerations.
