The role of melt gear pump in precision extrusion
The combination of polymer melt gear pump and screw extruder can improve extrusion yield and quality, reduce energy consumption, and play a role that cannot be replaced by other processing methods, especially in precision extrusion molding. At present, the materials it can process almost cover most polymer materials, such as PE, PC, PP, PVC, PET, polysulfone, polyester, fluorinated polymers, thermoplastic elastomers, and rubber, etc. It has become a hot topic in the development of modern plastic forming and processing technology and equipment.
Because in the extrusion process, it is difficult to avoid phenomena such as uneven material feeding, different mixing ratios of recycled materials, fluctuations in barrel and head temperatures, and fluctuations in screw speed. Installing a gear pump can significantly reduce upstream fluctuations and play a stabilizing role. This is because: ① the clearance of the melt gear pump is very small, the flow resistance of the material in the clearance is large, the leakage flow rate is small, and the fluctuation of the leakage flow rate caused by pressure difference changes has little impact on the pumping volume; ② The fluctuation of melt pressure is related to its own frequency of change. If there is not enough time to change from one state to another after the inlet pressure fluctuates, the fluctuation generated during meshing will not directly affect the outlet pressure fluctuation.
