Working principle, industry application, and performance advantages of gear metering pumps
A gear metering pump is driven by a pair of meshing gears, one of which is an active gear and the other is a passive gear, which rotates through meshing. There is a small gap between the gear and the pump casing directly. When the gear rotates, the sealed volume between the teeth increases in the suction chamber where the teeth gradually disengage, forming a local vacuum. The liquid is sucked into the suction chamber under the pressure difference. As the gear rotates, the liquid is divided into two paths and pushed forward between the gear and the shell by the gear, and sent to the discharge chamber. In the discharge chamber, the two gears gradually mesh, and the volume decreases. The liquid between the gears is squeezed to the discharge port.
