Application Scenarios, Characteristics, and Configurations of the Start-up Valve

The application scenarios of the start-up valve, also known as the discharge valve, are diverse and extensive. It is widely used in extrusion production lines, polymerization production lines, and underwater cutting production lines, with underwater cutting production lines being almost indispensable for its application. The start-up valve can be used independently or in conjunction with screen changers and melt pumps.

1.Installed at the outlet end of the extruder barrel, the start-up valve is switched to the discharge position before startup to expel residual material inside the barrel. Once the material is normal, it is switched to the working position to commence production. In this operating condition, the start-up valve serves solely as a discharge application.

2.Installed at the outlet end of the extruder barrel or on the polymerization line, the start-up valve is used in conjunction with screen changers/melt pumps. Before startup, it is switched to the discharge position to expel residual material from the barrel. Once the material is normal, it is switched to the working position to commence production. In the case of special circumstances where the pressure in front of the screen changer or melt pump suddenly rises and exceeds normal limits, the discharge valve can be set to open, protecting upstream equipment. In this operating condition, the start-up valve not only serves as a discharge application but also functions as a protective valve.

The overall structure of the start-up valve resembles that of a single-plunger single-column screen changer, featuring a dual-station flow channel. The working position is a straight-through channel, allowing material to flow smoothly to downstream equipment under normal conditions. The discharge position, on the other hand, incorporates a 90° flow channel for diverting material to the exterior for discharge. Despite its simple structure, the start-up valve plays a vital role. It employs a rigid sealing structure that ensures reliable sealing without leakage. The optimized material flow channel design eliminates dead zones and material retention, ensuring smooth flow. Operation is straightforward, and there is no risk of material leakage. Additionally, the start-up valve is compatible with various extrusion and polymerization production processes, making it a versatile component for different industrial applications.

The standard configuration of the start-up valve consists of three major components: the start-up valve body, an energy-storage hydraulic pump station, and an electric control cabinet. Customers can also select and configure these components based on their specific needs. The start-up valve offers two heating methods: electric heating and thermal medium heating, which can be chosen by the customer. For corrosive materials, anti-corrosion treatment or the use of corrosion-resistant materials for processing can be provided.
