As a key equipment on the production line, the core advantages of the sheet extruder melt pump are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Stable output: The melt pump can effectively eliminate unstable factors caused by uneven material feeding, temperature fluctuations between the barrel and head, and screw speed fluctuations during the extrusion process. No matter how the inlet pressure of the pump changes, the fluctuation of the outlet pressure and flow rate of the pump can be controlled within a very small range, ensuring the stability of material output.
Improving the dimensional accuracy of products: Melt pumps have linear extrusion characteristics, and through their stable extrusion capacity, they can significantly improve the dimensional accuracy of extruded products, reduce dimensional tolerances, and thus reduce waste and scrap rates. This is particularly important for producing high-precision products such as thin films or ultra-thin films.
Improve production: The melt pump transfers the pressure reducing function of the extruder to itself, allowing the extruder to operate under lower pressure and lower temperature conditions. This reduces leakage flow and increases overall production. At the same time, the melt pump can also adjust the back pressure of the extruder, reduce the residence time of the melt in the screw barrel, stabilize the plasticization process, and further improve product output.
Reduce energy consumption: The efficient design of the melt pump enables it to reduce the back pressure of the extruder when establishing and maintaining the head pressure, thereby reducing the axial force borne by the screw and minimizing energy consumption. For example, combining a co rotating twin-screw pelletizing extruder with a melt pump can significantly improve the mixing quality and output compared to a single twin-screw pelletizing unit, and the energy consumption per kilogram of material processed can generally be reduced by about a quarter.
Reduce wear: The use of melt pumps reduces the pressure inside the extruder barrel, thereby reducing wear between the screw and barrel, as well as the load on the gearbox thrust bearings. This helps to extend the service life of extruders and related equipment.
Easy to detect and control: Due to the low leakage rate of the melt pump, the conveying capacity of the pump is basically linearly related to the speed. Therefore, when the speed of the melt pump changes, its flow rate can be accurately determined. By utilizing the pressure, temperature, and other information collected at the inlet and outlet of the melt pump, the entire extrusion process can be monitored and feedback controlled online, thereby achieving better automation control and optimization of the production process.
